Effort and enterprise raise funds for Mind

This Sunday 3rd December the Akiva School PTA held a Chanukah Fair to raise money for the mental health charity Mind.  The fair was inspired by Striker Boy, a new children’s book written by Jonny Zucker who sadly took his own life earlier this year.

Children were invited to submit proposals for stalls that they would make the produce for and run on the day.  Their creative ideas included homemade jojo bows, cakes, friendship bracelets, homegrown herbs, face painting, second hand toys and books and much, much more.

The Chanukah Fair raised over £3,600 for Mind, thanks to your efforts and an initiative by Microsoft to double all funds raised.

Jude (Year 3)

“We decided to do something for charity.  It was actually really fun because people kept on coming to our stall.  It felt really special because they liked our goods.”

Evie and Kayla (Year 4)

“We feel really proud because we made a lot of money for charity.  It was fun when we were running around trying to get people to buy.”
