Design & Technology
The Akiva Design and Technology curriculum is authentic and challenging; it provides memorable opportunities for our pupils.
Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Children learn how products and systems are designed and manufactured, how to be innovative and to design solutions to given problems. Design and Technology encourages children to learn to think and intervene creatively, both as individuals and as members of a team. The values of honesty, integrity and resilience are key in this work as the children engage positively with the designed and made world. At Akiva School, we encourage children to use their creativity and imagination, to design and make products for an authentic purpose. These products must solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. We work with the children to use their resilience to create, improve and evaluate their work throughout DT projects in order to make creative use of a variety of resources including digital technologies.
