Computing

The Akiva computing curriculum is authentic and challenging, it provides memorable opportunities for our pupils.

At Akiva School we understand that the world around us is forever changing and developing in terms of technology. We aim for technology to be embedded throughout the curriculum, providing tools for children to be digitally literate and the skills and confidence to approach new technology. Through this approach, we are able to enhance all areas of learning, provide authentic learning experiences and increase motivation and engagement for pupils. Technology is an aid that allows inclusion for all, providing tools and materials to help increase children’s ability to access their learning but also to challenge and extend the children. Learning through technology is memorable and the skills learnt in other subjects are remembered because of the high levels of engagement. It also ensures that children have the knowledge and skills to be safe online and to maintain safe relationships online. The computing curriculum is developed to allow students to develop skills that will be used beyond the scope of school life.
